Private and relaxing – Strawberry Lake Campground
For those seeking a private getaway, Strawberry Lake Campground is located just South East of Mystic Horizons, off Turtle Mountain Scenic Byway (ND-43). The area is home to a primitive campground along with back country campsites for those willing to make the trek!
Strawberry Lake is located within Turtle Mountain State Forest and has miles of multi-use trails for hiking and biking. The lake has its own fishing pier and boat launch for fun on the water! The campground is located about 8 miles West of Lake Metigoshe. Remember to pack the essentials, as these sites do not have water or electricity available.
Fun and adventurous – Lake Metigoshe
Lake Metigoshe State Park is a great place for families in search of activities and adventure. The park has over 100 campsites, and most of which have electricity and water available. For activities, canoeing, hiking, biking, fishing and boating are just the beginning!
Washegun and Maid O’ Moonshine are the largest campgrounds in the park, and both feature water and electricity access directly on site. Other primitive options include North Star, North Hill, and South Hill, each located on the West side of the park near Lake Metigoshe. Cabin and yurt rentals are also available, and the area is home to many great restaurants!
Close and connected – Tommy Turtle Park
For those traveling to the area for shopping, events, or visiting family, Tommy Turtle Park is conveniently located within the city of Bottineau near the welcome center. 13 large sites are available in the park, offering access to water, electricity, and sewer.
This location gives campers the best of both worlds, with shops and restaurants within walking distance and the lakes & other outdoor activities a short driveaway. The International Peace Gardens are also just over 30 minutes away!
