Tom Schrader, KX Chief Meteorologist Weather Program

Tom Schrader is the Chief Meteorologist with the KX Network. It’s been several years, but we are thrilled to welcome Tom back to do a weather program at Lake Metigoshe State Park! Join us at the park’s amphitheater at 8pm on Saturday, August 24. This event is open to the public and free in accordance with the state park entrance fee in the amount of $7/vehicle or $35 for the annual pass.

Tom grew up in Phoenix and began a career in radio that took him to Chicago, Houston and finally Anchorage, AK. It was while he was in Alaska that he decided to go back to school to study atmospheric sciences at Mississippi State and Portland State Universities. Tom worked part time as a TV weatherman in Anchorage which helped him to get the experience needed to earn his American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval, which recognizes on-air meteorologists for their sound delivery of weather information to the general public.

In 1997, Tom started working at KXMC in Minot. He considers himself lucky to have joined a very strong news team who was already number one in the market and he has been with KXMC ever since.
